I started coming to Walk & Talk about 10 months ago. I’d been living in Leighton Buzzard for over 5 years, and had found it hard to integrate into the community. The countryside around is lovely and was one of the reasons I moved here, but there’s only so much enjoyment you can get from exploring it alone. Going on walks with others is so much more fun!
Everyone there wants to chat, so you don’t need to worry about awkward introductions. The topics of conservation can range from the mundane to the deeply personal. It’s helped me open up to myself about my own health, and has resulted in strengthening my relationships with my own family. More importantly, I feel that I’ve made a bunch of new friends.

I joined this group after some not so subtle hints from my wife putting her phone in my face, showing me about the group.
My mental health wasn’t great, after losing my Mum in late 2022. The first day I joined the group I had a very “first day new job feeling”!
But after chatting to everyone on the first walk it just -felt right.
This group has not only massively helped my mental health, I have also became great friends with Luke (from the group).
It is not only the walks I love, it’s the sense of community too.
